You know the old saying, “If Mama ain’t happy then no one‘s happy.” We all know it’s true. We are the center of the household, the master of ceremonies of daily life, we touch just about every aspect of each day in our family’s life and our mood or view on life will affect those that we care for. If we’re uptight and on the verge of frustration our children tend to bicker more and break down into tears easier. Conversely, our children will tend to get along better and deal with what comes at them more smoothly when we are relaxed and centered. So for the sake of your family; make time for yourself and your craft!
Finding time for yourself isn’t as hard as you think. It’s about making small adjustments to your lifestyle as well as your mindset. Like anything else, if it’s important then it gets a bigger priority than other things filling your time (say television or maybe laundry). The other thing to remember is that taking time to enjoy your craft is important to your sanity. Taking time to be creative and work with your hands centers you in a way that other activities cannot. Your mind gets a chance to stop thinking about the mundane and actively work with its other side. This alone has value. But I guarantee that it’s not the only benefit you’ll find.
The thing I hear most is that moms need a “reason” to do something. So I dare suggest that you take one of our classes, not necessarily to learn something new, but as a reason to do something you enjoy. We have classes in knitting, sewing, papercrafting, and mixed media, why not try one?
