Santa Clarita Valley golfers, get ready for the third annual Summer Showdown, in which the SCV Senior Center Foundation is inviting golfers of all ages and ability levels to bring their “A” game to the Tournament Players Club, Valencia, on Monday, June 20.
The Showdown, presented by Lockheed Federal Credit Union, has earned a reputation among golfers as a fun event with exciting prizes, great food and cocktails.
“Everyone always has a fabulous time at the Showdown,” said Myles McNamara, President of the Foundation, which raises funds to support the SCV Senior Center’s programs and services. “It’s an important fundraiser for our Foundation, and it’s great to see everyone have fun on such a beautiful golf course while benefiting a great cause.”
Foursomes cost just $600 and individual players can sign up for $175. Green fees include carts, practice balls, breakfast courtesy of the Egg Plantation, a delicious Mexican buffet lunch, awards, prizes and trophies. Plus, each golfer will receive a $50 certificate to use in the vendor shop on tournament day, for a total green fee package value of $250.
A variety of sponsorship packages offer businesses great opportunities to support the Senior Center, and sponsorship details are available on the Foundation’s website, www.scvseniorfoundation.org.
“We have a lot of great things up our sleeve for this year’s tournament,” said event Chairman John Lutz, Public Information Officer for the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall Area. “We will once again offer a golfer a chance to win $10,000 on a single putt, plus you could win the car of your dreams with a hole in one.”
The post-tournament banquet will include unique auction and raffle prizes, such as a set of TaylorMade irons valued at $1,500, a custom fitting session at TaylorMade’s “The Kingdom” in Carlsbad (valued at $1,800), golf rounds at the TPC Valencia, and a Southland foursome golf extravaganza featuring rounds at Industry Hills, Las Posas Country Club, Lost Canyons Golf Club and Robinson Ranch Golf Club.
Golfer check-in and the putting contest will be held before the 8 a.m. shotgun start.
“This is the golf tournament that’s done with the golfer in mind, whatever your ability level,” Lutz said. “We want everyone to enjoy themselves on the course, and to have an opportunity to win great prizes that they’ll truly appreciate. This event has been proven to sell out in advance, so we’re encouraging everyone to book their foursomes early.”
All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the SCV Senior Center’s programs and services for local seniors in need. Tickets, sponsorships and more information are available at the Foundation website, www.scvseniorfoundation.org, by calling the Senior Center at 661-259-9444, ext. 151, or by e-mail to: info@scvseniorfoundation.org.
