Celebrate spring onboard a Fillmore & Western Railway vintage train ride. The orange and lemon blossoms and wildflowers are in full bloom and the aroma in the valley is intoxicating. As you drive through the Heritage Valley on Highway 126 there is no mistaking what season it is. Everywhere you look you see the blossoms on trees and the newly sprouted row crops and flower beds.
Spring train rides include Shake, Rattle & Rail, a 50’s-era train ride to Santa Paula on the first Friday night of each month. During the journey passengers are treated to 50’s-style diner food. In Santa Paula, passengers walk one block to the downtown district to view the classic car show and listen to sidewalk bands. During the trip back to Fillmore there will be dancing to 50s and 60s tunes in the onboard dance car.
Every Saturday and Sunday year round, families board the train for a leisurely ride to the Loose Caboose Garden Center and Gift Emporium and to downtown Santa Paula on the Weekend Scenic Excursion. The first stop in the journey is at the Loose Caboose which provides passengers with an opportunity to browse and shop in the quaint country store. Once in Santa Paula, travelers can browse the downtown shops or visit one of the several museums or take a self-guided walking tour of the world-class murals on the sides of historic downtown buildings. A 1928 parlor car serves as the diner onboard these weekend trains and has a regular restaurant menu to choose edibles from. A concession car and outside rider are also attached to the weekend train and passengers are encouraged to “walk the train” and explore all the different railcars.
