Hello Comedy Fans,
As I write this article I have just heard the news that Arnold Schwarzenegger announced that he had fathered a child with a household employee 10 years ago.
I am guessing it won’t be the best Father’s Day of his life. I, on the other hand am spearheading a campaign to put an end to an ugly trend in this country. That is the trend of dads getting the short end of the gift giving stick. If you don’t believe this is true, just take a stroll through the Town Center mall a few days before Father’s Day and you will see merchandise on display that you will not see any other time of the year. Why? Because it is crap they have dragged from the bowels of the stock room because people are compelled to get a gift for the old man.
Ridiculous gifts! A barometer for his desk. Just what every man hopes for. Come on guys, you’re plowing through a stack of paper work, you don’t want to be bothered turning on the radio to get the barometric pressure. Then it ends up on your credit card. How about this one? A leather bookmark shaped like a trout. If you even hesitate in front of the leather bookmark shaped like a trout, stop yourself, and give your dad the three dollars.
I have a better idea. Take Dad to J.R.’s Comedy club and give the gift of laughter. We have a big month of June starting with Robert Zapata on June 3 to 4, making his first appearance at J.R.’s. He is one of the hottest young comics in the country and you will love his improvisational style.
On June 10 and 11, we have one of our all time favorites John DiCrosta, whose voices and characters will make you laugh till you cry.
June 17 and 18, Bill Dwyer makes his first appearance at J.R.’s. He was a finalist on Last Comic Standing and is hilarious.
On June 24 and 25, we round out the month with Mark Eddie, “The Rock and Roll comedian. Mark has done one of our New Year’s Eve shows for the last three years, and if you have never seen him, you are in for one of the most entertaining evenings of your life.
J.R.’s Comedy Club has been an important part of your community for 13 years. Come share the fun!
