“There is not enough that we can ever do for the families who have suffered the death of a loved one when they’ve served in the armed forces,” stated Mayor Marsha McLean. “Dedicating the Fallen Warrior Memorial Bridge to the memory of soldiers we have lost, is a way for the City of Santa Clarita to honor those men and women as well as their families for their ultimate sacrifice.”The road was renamed to commemorate those who have lost their lives in the armed forces. A special memorial monument plaque was dedicated alongside the bridge containing the names of residents of the City of Santa Clarita who died in the line of duty while serving in the war on terrorism. Included are: Richard P. Slocum, John M. Conant, Cole W. Larsen, Stephen E. Colley, Jake W. Suter, Jose R. Flores Mejia, Dennis L. Sellen, Ian Timothy D. Gelig, Rudy A. Acosta.
