Heritage Park filled up movie-goers toting blankets and chairs to enjoy the free showing of Megamind. Delicious smells filled the air from the snack shack, which provided sweet and savory treats for all. The children were also able to enjoy arts and crafts, play in the playground and kick around the soccer ball on the open grass area. All and all, it was a wonderful night of friends supporting such a much-needed foundation.
“It exceeded our expectations; we didn’t have a way to count how many people attended but we think there were at least 1100 people. Through sponsorships, donations, raffle and food sales we raised over $7,000 for the Foundation. We were very pleased with the outcome and already have people inquiring about the next one. It was a MEGA-hit!” said Ericka Watson, Executive Director.
The Foundation for Children’s Dental Health is a non-profit organization dedicated to provide dental care to the underserved and un-served school children in the Santa Clarita Valley who would not otherwise have these services available to them. Many children of low-income families have never seen a dentist in Santa Clarita. Some sit silently in classrooms with deformities, excruciating pain and self-esteem issues. The number of local children that suffer silently is staggering. The solution to this problem is simple: early screening and early intervention.
