On my last trip overseas I stopped off in the small town of Interlaken on our way north through Switzerland.  This beautiful mountain settlement is nestled between two massive lakes just south of Zurich.  Our reason for this unscheduled detour… canyoning and fondue.  The extreme sport of “canyoning” consists of rappelling, sliding and jumping down rocks and waterfalls into the white waters of Saxeten canyons, (look it up, very cool) but, more importantly, later that night, we celebrated the glorious art of fondue!  A Swiss national dish established in the 1930s, made its mark on the U.S. back in the swingin’ 60s, but like most trends they always make their way back into the spotlight at some point or another, even if we’re the only ones controlling the light.  Similar to canyoning, it’s a great activity to share with friends and has a very bold and adventurous flavor.  For those of you that have never sampled this delectable dish, it’s a combination of melted cheeses, various wines and seasonings in a communal pot. Guests use long forks to dip chunks of bread into this magical sauce!  That’s tradition… and our philosophy at MIXERS is to remix, rebuild and refresh tradition.  After sampling the best of what the Swiss had to offer, we unanimously agreed to include it on the menu.  Executive chef Adam Bokal went to work designing two exceptional recipes.  First is a blend of gruyere and fontina cheeses with a buttery French Chardonnay.  The second is our very popular brie and basil fondue, made with a mild yet rich blend of creamy brie, sweet basil, crushed garlic and fresh grated parmesan.  Both pots are accompanied by your choice of French bread, cauliflower, shrimp, sausage or chicken.  For those of you with a sweet tooth, I suggest you try our rich, organic chocolate fondue, accompanied by fresh fruit, pound cake, rice krispy treats and brownie bites.
We recommend you come in and experience what took thousands of miles and years of training to perfect!  Pair it with any of our wines and enjoy absolute perfection.  Hope to see you soon.
