Many Southern California residents take day-trips and are now seeking ways to contain it to one tank of gas.  Rick Romero, popular newscaster with Los Angeles ABC Channel 7 featured Fillmore and Santa Paula recently in his One-Tank Getaways.  One of the nearest day trips residents of the Santa Clarita Valley can take is heading west on State Highway 126 to the lush agricultural Heritage Valley.  In less than a half an hour, citizens of Santa Clarita arrive in Fillmore.  In downtown Central Park, families can board one of the Fillmore & Western Railway vintage trains.  The various themed trains operate year-round.  A regular weekend scenic excursion is scheduled every Saturday and Sunday, providing a three-hour trip that stops in another Heritage Valley city, Santa Paula for an hour layover.
If it is a holiday weekend, chances are Fillmore & Western has a themed train ride to celebrate the occasion.  Among the holiday trains are the Valentine’s day “Rails to Romance” dinner train, Easter lunch train, Mothers’ day lunch train, Fathers’ day BBQ lunch train, 4th of July firecracker BBQ dinner train, Pumpkinliners, search for the headless horseman dinner train, dinner with Santa, Christmas tree trains, the North Pole Express and the New Year’s Eve party train.  We also charter trains for special occasions such as retirement parties, birthday parties, anniversary celebrations and company team-building activities.
