These pre-Broadway performances will be the last productions for non-profit beneficiaries.  The musical will begin touring in July 2012.  Wartime Romance was born here in 2006 at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center with the help of Santa Clarita Valley Arts Grants and Galpin Motors.  The run closed to rave reviews and standing ovations – not only for the message, but for the lavish sets and lighting.  The uplifting musical selections are played by a professional orchestra accompanying high energy dancing, soulful singing and heart-warming acting.  The message raises awareness about the courage of our troops who continue to make sacrifices in the pursuit of freedom.
Wartime Romance is written and produced by local Newhall resident, Marilyn Hackett,  and is based on love letter correspondence during WWII between her mother, Margaret Wolff who lived in Horton, Kansas, and a US Marine Dive Bomber pilot, Captain Tom Johnson, whom she married when he returned home.  Marilyn says: “Wartime Romance was written to honor our Veterans and their families who have given so much to keep us safe,” and it does that magnificently.
