Nation-wide, 98 percent of the work of the American Cancer Society is done by its volunteer force. With so many reasons to volunteer, here are some shocking statistics. Cancer strikes one in every two men and one in every three women. This year in California alone, over 135,000 people will be diagnosed with cancer and approximately 55,000 Californian’s will die from cancer. That’s about 150 per day. With numbers like that, it is imperative that we all do our part to give back. You never know when this devastating disease will knock at the doors of someone you love. Do your part and get involved today!
Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital was also honored with the “Outstanding Community Partnership” award for their many years of support. Did you know that HMNMH was a sponsor at the first ever ACS event back in 1994 and they have been bringing cancer awareness to SCV with the ACS ever since?
