As a child I often dreamt of waking up Christmas morning and finding our house and neighborhood blanketed with snow. Although I knew it was a long shot I still ran to the window to check. Oh well, I guess the presents from Santa would have to do. Yes, unfortunately we live in snow challenged city. However, that may be a good thing. Imagine having to wake up extra early to shovel snow off the driveway in order to drive to work, the store, or to drop the kids off at school. But then again, there is something magical about snow. The way a child’s eyes light up at its very sight. Or the smile on their face that quickly follows. Yes, there is something magical indeed about snow. It’s something that brings out the inner child in all of us, yearning to throw a snowball at our neighbor. Oh, what to do in a town without snow.
Enter Old Town Newhall Ice. We have been making it snow for residents, schools and local businesses in our snow-deprived city for years. We can turn an ordinary day into a winter wonderland, with tons and tons of beautiful snow for kids of every age to enjoy. We have decorated lawns, built sled runs and made wishes of a white Christmas a reality with glorious real snow.
The process of blowing the snow begins with a block of ice. This 300-pound block of ice is then put through the “snow blower” a machine that crushes the ice into fine little flakes that blow out of the hose. But the best part of the process happens when you see the children faces light up at the sight of real snow. It’ll be like Christmas morning without all that wrapping paper to throw away.
