Join us Saturday night, September 8, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Saugus Speedway as we welcome back, not only some of the finest, most outrageous automotive classics from the West Coast, but also one of Southern California’s greatest ‘50s and ‘60s Doo Wop Show Bands, The Corvettes.
Saugus Speedway, in a tradition that has spanned 12 years, once again brings you a community event like no other: a family affair celebrating an incredible era of great music, hot cars and good times. The show also features rides, games, vendors, food and, of course, over 500 classic cars, trucks (pre-1975) and motorcycles (all years welcome) vying for the bragging rights in over 40 trophy categories. Cash prizes for Car of the Year, Truck of the Year and Motorcycle of the Year make this one of the keenest competitions around. Remember, this family-friendly, fun-filled event happens only once a year.
The Corvettes have been one of the premiere ‘50s and ‘60s Doo Wop shows in Southern California spanning several decades. Hailing from the San Diego area, this band will have you whirling your hula hoops and swingin’ and jivin’ with your dance partner. Maybe just a little shuffle down memory lane is more your style? Well, with both male and female band members, The Corvettes are sure to cover some of your personal favorites and bowl you over with their costumes and stage show. Opening for The Corvettes will be The NeaT, a four-piece rock ‘n’ roll band that covers the look and feel of the 60s, complete with an uncanny realistic sound of the original bands.
As always, a generous portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Santa Clarita’s Special Olympics. General Admission for adults is $10, children 11 and under are $3.
The Saugus Speedway is located at 22500 Soledad Canyon Road, Santa Clarita. Competition vehicles and vendor signups are going on now with pre-registration ending August 30.
