On Thursday December 8, 2011, the San Fernando Valley Veterans Employment Committee (SFV/VEC) hosted part two of the annual Operation Holiday at the American Legion Post 176 located at 602 Pico Street in San Fernando.
The VEC provides San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valley veterans and their families with employment related assistance and supportive services throughout the year.  Operation Holiday is another way the VEC honors our local veterans.  OTT Making the Holidays 1VEC Chairman, EJ Steele stated, “The holidays can be very stressful for families, especially families of transitioning Veterans.  Operation Holiday provides these families with a complete holiday dinner and gifts/toys for their children.  The VEC is honored to lend a hand to our nation’s heroes.”
The 2011 Operation Holiday was sponsored by several businesses, including Time Warner Cable, SFV/Employer Advisory Council, Chatsworth Kiwanis Club, Costco, Mattel, Toys for Tots, Eventbrite, NeverSoft and Good360.  Jimmy Carnes, an Army Veteran and Chase Bank District Manager, also attended and stated “As a Veteran myself, it is a privilege to offer assistance to our service members and families of those who served.”  The VEC Executive Board would like to extend a special thank you to Congressman McKeon’s office for all their support and assistance.
The VEC accepts donations year round for Operation Holiday and the annual Veterans Employment and Resource Expo, held in June at the Van Nuys National Guard Armory.
