My question to you… “Do you know who Ansel Adams is?”  I found out that many people in Santa Clarita know who Ansel Adams is, as they came on Saturday, February 25 to the lecture about his photography.  The lecture was held in the Century Room of City Hall.  People came to see his photographs and hear about his life as a photographer.
Ansel Adams is well-known as America’s photographer of nature and natural environments.  There were over 50 or 60 people sitting in the Century Room of City Hall waiting to hear and see a lot of the photographs that were made by Ansel Adams.  The first thing I noticed when I walked into the room was the number of people with grey hair!  What this meant to me was there are many people in SCV who are interested in coming to hear lectures about professional well-known artists.  This can be done when the city will announce who the art lectures will be and the time and place for the lecture.  There were many people of different ages and both sexes seated and knew who Ansel Adams was.  Many knew about his unique photographs of nature especially trees and mountains and came to hear the lecture.  This proves to me that if the city would create an art center there would be opportunities for many exciting art lectures and people in SCV would come to events of this kind.  An art center is needed for the community to have opportunities to be given enrichment in the visual arts as well as all of the arts.  Ansel Adams used black and white film in all of his photographs which was the outstanding feature of his photographs.  In the halls of City Hall is a visual art exhibit of black and white photographs and other kinds of compositions that relate to the theme of Ansel Adams and his black and white photographs.  This exhibit was arranged by Jeff Barber, Arts and Events Public Art Coordinator.  So I encourage you to please talk to the City Council members about an art center being created.
