The musical was born in 2006 at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center.  The run closed to rave reviews and standing ovations – not only for the message, but for the lavish sets and lighting.  The uplifting musical selections are played by a professional orchestra accompanying high energy dancing, soulful singing and heart warming acting.  The message raises awareness about the courage of our troops who continue to make sacrifices in the pursuit of freedom.
Wartime Romance is written and produced by local Newhall resident, Marilyn Hackett, and is based on love letter correspondence during WWII  between her mother, Margaret Wolff who lived in Horton, Kansas, and a US Marine Dive Bomber pilot in the Pacific Theater, Captain Tom Johnson, whom she married when he returned home.  Marilyn says: “Wartime Romance was written to honor our Veterans and their families who have given so much to keep us safe,” and it does that magnificently.
