Several times a year, the Michael Hoefflin Foundation hosts free events to raise funds for children, and their families, whose lives have been impacted by cancer. Saturday, March 24, 2012, the Second Annual 5K Walk for Kids with Cancer was held at the College of the Canyons Cougar Stadium in Valencia.
At the event, hundreds of people walked laps around the track in order to celebrate the lives of children and their families who have been affected by childhood cancer. Symbolic, white balloons were given to the parents who have lost young ones to cancer and were all released at the same time to demonstrate the freedom from mourning and celebration of the beautiful lives of their children. The event not only raised thousands of dollars, but it gave local citizens a chance to express their support for those who have been diagnosed with the disease.
