School is out and so are the stars!  Thank you, Santa Clarita, for sharing your star-studded encounters with me!
Santa Clarita went country last month as the Cowboy Festival came to town.  Thousands of guests had a great time at the City of Santa Clarita’s 19th annual Cowboy Festival at the historical Melody Ranch Studio.  Most people don’t think of our city as being a cowboy town, however it is home to one of the world’s best Western events, and as a part of the western fun, there was a Wild Wild West SENSES Party in Old Town Newhall where cowboys and cowgirls gathered to honor Academy Award-winning film editor Joel Cox. While at the event, I had the opportunity to meet Peter Ford.  Peter was kind enough to take a photo with me.   Peter is the son of two Hollywood stars, Eleanor Powell and box office star, Glenn Ford.  Peter starred on many television shows in the mid 1970’s.  His father, the late actor Glenn Ford and Joel Cox were inducted into the Walk of Western Stars.  Glenn appeared in many Westerns, including 3:10 to Yuma, Cowboy, The Rounders, Texas and many more, winning the heart of many.   Joel Cox also received a star on the Walk of Western Stars.  Joel is a film editor and has collaborated with Clint Eastwood on many films.  Joel also won an Academy Award for Film Editing for Unforgiven in 1992, and in 2008, Clint Eastwood presented him with the first Ignacy Paderewski Lifetime Achievement Award.  Joel has worked on movies like Changeling, Letters from Iwo Jima, Flags of Our Fathers, and Mystic River to name a few.
The Walk of Western Stars pays homage to the City of Santa Clarita’s Western roots and rich film culture, honoring actors, directors and film professionals for their contributions to the Western heritage of America.  The Walk was established in 1981 and continues today as stars are immortalized in bronze and terrazzo tile stamped into the streets of Old Town Newhall.
Stay tuned for more celebrity sightings, as there are many more to report.
