In my practice, I get asked an array of skincare questions. However, one of the most popular questions I get is this one: As we get older, what types of skincare products should we be looking for? My answer to this is fairly simple.
It really all depends on if you are looking to correct a problem with your skin or if you are just looking to maintain regular skin health. I would say a majority of people are looking for a combination of the two.
For instance, if you are looking for products to counteract dryness, you need to be looking for a moisturizer and/or makeup foundations with a creamy, non-comedogenic, base. If you have acne-prone or blemished skin, moisturizers and make-up that are less oily, oil-free and again, non-comedogenic, so they won’t cause further breakout, are in order.
Additionally, regardless of what skin type you may have, sunscreen is a must. I always suggest that you do not purchase a moisturizer with a sunscreen already in it. I do suggest that you purchase a separate bottle of SPF 15 or higher sunscreen for your skin that is non-allergenic and non-comedogenic.
