MBK Senior Living’s Summerhill Villa is the third community to receive a ”Dementia Program of Distinction” status from Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA). This prestigious award has been given to only 33 communities nationwide. The company’s Crown Cove and Casa de Santa Fe have also been recognized for their standards of excellence in memory care. AFA’s “Excellence in Care” was established to recognize dementia care communities that achieve established standards for quality care for residents and their families. The program was created by industry experts and consists of a comprehensive on-site evaluation and consultation regarding strategies for quality of care and sustained performance. Key areas of review include: environment, education, staff-client interaction and programming.
AFA recognized Summerhill Villa as providing optimal care for its residents. AFA gave high marks to the senior living community for its skill in handling the behavior associated with memory impairments, providing a warm, caring and secure environment, and offering first-rate service delivery.
“At MBK Senior Living, we are committed to providing exemplary care and services. We strive daily to meet the expectations of our residents and their families. It’s an honor to be recognized by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America for those efforts,” said Terry Howard, president of MBK Senior Living.
Located just north of Los Angeles, Summerhill Villa has been a part of the Santa Clarita community since 2001. Summerhill Villa offers assisted living and memory care residences, as well as an active lifestyle through planned activities, services and preventive education.
