As someone who has survived records and cassettes I can testify that I truly believed that the CD would be the last advancement.  But now that we have the simplicity of downloading music online we can ask ourselves if we should get rid of our CD’s?

I have a pretty extensive music collection from all over the world and what I have found out is that digital downloads seldom include the album liner notes which could include lyric translations, sometimes not that important but could come in handy when the album is in Japanese.  The other thing about computer files, including downloaded music, is that they become vulnerable to computer crashes and other failures.  Which can be scary since not all of us are so great about back-ups.  The other thing to consider is the resurgence of vinyl records and collectors being on the hunt for the oldest best-kept albums.  Who is to say that CD’s could not become collectible as well?  Owning the tangible CD feels more secure to many people, myself included, which is why at Ma Maison we always sell CD’s of the music we play in the store.  When it comes to giving a gift to a friend or family member the physical object makes for a better present and shows more thought went into the purchase and it wraps so much prettier than a gift card.
Many of our customers ask about the music we play in the store because it is so unique and sometimes it is from my personal eclectic world collection.  In honor of our nine year anniversary this month, our thank you gift to our customers is a custom CD compilation of some of our favorite songs with any purchase during August 23 to 26.  During our anniversary celebration we will be featuring local artists with specialty products, complimentary wine tasting on Friday, August 24 and lots of new Fall treasures to peruse.
Please stop by to get your CD and join us in celebrating nine years of serving Santa Clarita.  Ma Maison is located at 24266 Valencia Boulevard in Valencia.  For more information, please call 661-799-7983.
