Advancing the Status of Women Locally and Worldwide through Advocacy, Service and Awareness
The LifeForward workshops are designed to empower women to believe in themselves and their potential, build skills necessary to succeed and be the powerful woman they are meant to be.
These workshops are designed to provide information and tools to help women who need assistance and advice or who wish to improve their personal development and skills. A seminar workshop providing information about “Social Services” is scheduled for August 25; “Parenting-Anger Management and Communication Skills” will be presented in September; October’s interactive workshop will center around “Building Self Esteem.” Other planned workshop topics are “Financial Survival,” “Advice for Preparing Taxes,” “Teen Drug and Alcohol Abuse – Cyberbullying,” “Nutrition and Meal Preparation,” “Divorce and Family Law Issues” and “Sources of Child Support.”
All workshops are free and are held on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Desert Streams Church, 26873 Ruether Avenue in Canyon Country. Participants can attend any or all sessions. Child care is available by registering no later than one week before the workshop. Register at www.singlemothersoutreach.org/lifeforward.
Eight Santa Clarita Zontians – Nancy Albrecht, Barbara Cochran, Sharon Langenbeck, Chris Miller, Cherise Moore, Vicki Oren, Laura Peckham, and Phyllis Walker – will travel to Torino, Italy to attend Zonta 2012 International Convention from July 6 through July 13; outgoing International President and Santa Clarita Zontian, Dianne Curtis, will conclude her reign of two years, and a slate of new officers will be voted into office to lead the organization for the next biennium. Bylaw changes and resolutions will be reviewed for acceptance; international projects will be presented and voted on and other business and fiduciary matters of Zonta International will be discussed. Zonta International has 1,200 clubs in 63 counties and geographic areas; it is truly awesome to see that many clubs represented from all over the world and meet so many women who uphold the same mission – to improve the status of women worldwide.
