It can be difficult to live in a time where owning a home and being self-sufficient is more of a rarity than a common occurrence.  The struggle to be independent and have enough left over for extra entertainment spending or even a retirement fund becomes all too relevant.  Our generation is one where the American dream is a battle to stay afloat.  It is easy to become bitter and resentful that times are tough.

It is easy to drive past the gas station and roll your eyes because the numbers keep flipping upwards.  The inflation value increases faster than we can afford often times leaving some in the dust.  It is a different America.  Whatever political affiliation you choose to side with, it is easy to see we are all in the same boat, riding the same rocky waters.  Self-sufficiency may be difficult to come by, but I believe all is not lost.  The reality is hard to accept but it is here.  Hard work and dedication are values that persist in uncertain times.  It means cutting back instead of cutting corners.  The way to the top is by honest hard work.  Prices may continue to increase, but costs do not outweigh the rewards.  Self-sufficiency and independence is a goal to strive for.  It is an attainable goal that I, like many others, will continue to work towards until it is accomplished.
