Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital will host its second annual SCV Healthy Baby Expo from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, September 29 in the hospital parking lot, 23845 McBean Parkway, Valencia.  The Baby Expo is a health fair focusing on prenatal and post partum mothers and fathers. Expectant parents and young families will enjoy a morning of education and entertainment including complimentary health screenings for parents and grandparents.

More than 50 local businesses and community organizations participating in the event will host interactive educational booths and provide information, education and resources to help pregnant women have a healthy pregnancy and ultimately a healthier baby.

In addition to learning about what to expect when delivering a baby at Henry Mayo and participating in a tour of the hospital’s women’s services unit, expectant parents will have an opportunity to be educated on several pregnancy-related health topics including:

nutrition; exercise; and preparing for birth.  They will have an opportunity to get a prenatal baby picture through complimentary ultrasound, learn how to properly install a child safety seat and meet physicians and nurses affiliated with Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

Postpartum moms and dads will be able to learn special techniques for breast feeding, how to soothe a baby, post partum physical therapy, mixing formula, baby skin care, baby development and much more.

Young children attending the event can get an early start on health education through various interactive health activities.  They will also be able to participate in a child identification kit, touch and feel snakes and critters as they learn about animal safety from the Placerita Nature Center; learn about manners from You’ve Got Manners, and visit with mascots from MaggieMoo’s, the CHP and the Sheriff’s Department.

Parents as well as grandparents can also take advantage of complimentary health screenings including: Cholesterol, Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Height, Weight, Bone Density, Hearing, Pulse Oximetery, Oxygen Saturation, and Spine.
The Baby Expo is open to the public and all screenings are free. The event will take place on the hospital campus, 23845 McBean Parkway, Valencia, in conjunction with the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation 5K Run for the Health of It.
