Now that the holidays are behind us, Santa Clarita residents are doing their best to start the year off right. But it may not mean that they have to sacrifice convenience and great taste…at least not at Wendy’s. Men’s Health Magazine recently announced Wendy’s as the number one quick-service restaurant for healthy options. They found that relative to other burger joints, Wendy’s has many more options on the menu falling below 400 calories.
A recent trip to one Wendy’s location in Santa Clarita proved that not only are many regular menu items relatively low-calorie, but there are also many customizable options to be sure to keep dieters on track. Last week, we visited a local Wendy’s restaurant in the morning. While we watched the Wendy’s employees cut up fresh tomatoes, lettuce, onions and salad ingredients for the day, it was obvious that there were plenty of fresh “extras” at Wendy’s that would fit in a low-calorie diet plan. “Our customers who are looking for healthy options tell us that they like Wendy’s because since it is made to order, they can control all of the ingredients that go in their meal,” said Rob Montgomery, owner of Wendy’s of Santa Clarita. “Customizing a cheeseburger by losing the bun and wrapping a patty in extra lettuce is one example of a popular customized meal that saves hundreds of calories.”
