Kickin’ off the New Year with excitement, the Newhall Church of the Nazarene has turned their entire Sanctuary into Route 66 – starting in Chicago and ending in California! Dave Ewart, well known Santa Clarita Valley musician and artist, designed and painted Route 66 on the walls – including cars, a gas station, the St. Louis Gateway Arch, the Sears Tower and even a hidden Mickey in the palm trees in California! “When the church came up with this idea, I was a little unsure how it would turn out! However, everyone seems to enjoy the art and they are sharing their own stories about road trips they took with their families! It brings back a lot of memories!”
You may be asking yourself “why”? During 2013 the church will be traveling through the 66 books in the Bible and planning events around the car, travel and motion themes! Realizing that many people would like to learn more about the Bible, Pastor Greg Garman decided to help the members of the church explore the Bible in a fun and memorable way! “Learning more about God is always great,” stated Pastor Garman, “but bringing the congregation together in fun and unique ways helps grow friendships and a team. We invite the SCV community to come and join us on our journey!” Services at Newhall Church of the Nazarene are on Sunday, 9 a.m. and 10:30 am.
