They’re “timed” to favor that particular restaurant that agreed to do it! How so? Simple. Let’s say you’re holding your fundraiser at a local burger franchise, or a local pizza franchise, or…wherever. They’ve given you a time frame of between 4 until 8 p.m.…or maybe 5 until 9 p.m..
Obviously, the parents, families, members of your organization, school, etc., have to present your flyer/coupon between those hours, and a percentage of those dollars will flow back to your school or group. This is a very common fundraiser scenario used by a multitude of companies day in and day out. But, if you really think about it, limiting your group’s participation to those hours favors the company and not your organization.
How so? Again, simple. What if mom picks up the kids from school at 2 p.m. and finds herself near the afore-mentioned burger franchise and feels like grabbing a bite. Whatever she spends will stay in their register because she’s buying way outside the time frame the business allotted for your group. Feel like having pizza for lunch? Expecting a percentage of those dollars flowing back to your group?
No. Didn’t you read the flyer? It says 5 to 9 p.m. You’re here at noon. Sorry, come back in five hours and a percentage will go back to your school.
And that’s exactly why we insist on thinking outside the box! We want to break the corporate rules!
Planet Yogurt is different, much different. First of all, our policy is open to close. That Mom mentioned above…her dollars spent in Planet Yogurt will benefit your group, no matter when she comes in! Case in point: Trinity Classical Academy held a talent show Saturday, February 16. Anyone with a coupon was able to come in to Planet Yogurt from noon, when we opened, to closing…Trinity’s parents and participants came in to Planet Yogurt all day long and their coupons were honored. But let’s go one more step…the recital was from 7 to 9 p.m. What if the parents, families…kids, etc., were just simply tired after a day of rehearsals and then the show and simply wanted to go home? That’s why Planet Yogurt extended their fundraiser to two days, Saturday and Sunday, February 17. We geared the fundraiser to be more comfortable to Trinity’s needs, not ours. In the long run, we feel this philosophy creates a definitive win-win situation for both sides and not just the restaurant that wants to corral your group into a narrow window in order to see their sales ‘spike’ for any particular four-hour period. We make a consistent, conscious effort to be here for you and your needs. Not ours.
