Rose Anschultz knew her open-plan media room needed a makeover when she applied for HGTVs Color Correction with Constance Ramos. She had a room that felt too light and just “blended” with the rest of the home. A room she felt should be warm and different from the rest of the house. Did she think she would be chosen? Well, when I asked Rose she said, “I knew in my heart I would be chosen. I even had dreams of being chosen.”
So on the day she got the call that her family had been chosen, she was ecstatic.
The idea behind the new HGTV show is to fix a room for a family that has had a “color oops” and needed a color expert to come correct it. Constance Ramos was chosen as the color exert. The Anschultz’s living room was perfect for “Problem Eight: Where to Begin or End in an Open Floor Plan.”
Ramos opened her box of tricks and the Anschultz family was amazed at the end result. Ramos gave them the warm, defined room they were looking for. HGTV offers more detail in these situations at the HGTV website. By starting with a simple question and answer session, you can quickly define what you are looking for and what you need to
accomplish.
Here are four things to consider when changing a space:
1. Color defines a space.
2. Define your endpoints.
3. Color is not your only endpoint.
4. Use visual endpoints as well.
Do you have a room that is screaming for a color makeover? Well there’s hope for you yet.
