Seems like just yesterday we opened the doors to our new Castaic location and as of September, 2013 we will be celebrating our five year anniversary! Wow! How time flies!
I remember interviewing for our staff and all of the young eager faces that presented themselves to be drilled and questioned for each and every position.
When the Telly’s family first decided to open up in Castaic for business, they offered me the wonderful task of running the business, that came with a rich history and in such a beautiful building; I was honored.
When we were ready to open, I had just lost my husband and was truly lost; yet ahead of me was an adventure that would soon help turn my grief into helping others. My days were filled with greeting customers as they arrived, delivering food to tables, and chatting about the day’s events, I would find comfort in talking with customers and healing from their words or them healing from mine.
The last few years I have been lucky to have been graced with so many great customers and acquaintances.
I remember a family coming in one night. They were seated in a booth and looked like they had been crying. I didn’t really want to interrupt them, but as I passed the table to check on them and other customers, I just felt a lot of sadness. I took to the dessert case and made them two brownie sundaes and set them in the middle of the table with a bunch of spoons and said to them “ This looks like a need for comfort”… they all looked up and said “Thank you, but we didn’t order these..”.. I told them they were on me and that I had felt this before. “Sometimes we all need a little something ….not said … to get through our tough days. Please enjoy”
This family to this day comes in, always gives me a hug, smiles and always a shoulder should I need one. I have always cherished them and grateful to have crossed paths with them.
