The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association (SCAA) will sponsor the 24th annual Art Classic Gala on October 19, from 2-5 pm at Hart Hall in historic Hart Park in Newhall. Over 100 exhibitors from the SCAA membership will display their best artwork and be presented awards at the Gala.
There will be three levels of awards: Art will be judged in each category from oil, acrylic, watercolor, collage, photography, sculpture and dry medium, along with a Best of Show award. There will also be a Peoples’ Choice award chosen by the guests at the event. In addition, the City of Santa Clarita will present their Excellence in Art award.
Guests will enjoy the 2D and 3D visual art, smooth jazz by the Alternate Side Band, gourmet hors d’oeuvres, wine and nonalcoholic beverages, and desserts.
The renowned judges are:
• Phyllis Doyon, gallery owner and expert watercolor artist
• Julie Snyder, award-winning oil painter, seasoned traveler
• John Nichols, photographer and curator of the Santa Paula Art Museum
Most of the exhibited artwork will be available for purchase at the show. Also, a fun-filled silent auction will provide additional opportunities to purchase original artwork and other items at fantastic prices.
The mission of the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association is Making Visual Art Visible. Their goal is to promote the visual arts within the Santa Clarita Valley and to encourage members and the community to develop their artistic talents.
“Our Scholarship Fund grows every year, helping high students realize their future as profession artists,” said Dody Rogers, Chairperson for the SCAA Classic. “The current membership has exceeded 150 members.”
The exhibit will be open free to the public on Sunday, October 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tickets for the Gala on Saturday, October 19, are $20 each. For more
