A couple weeks ago I received a text from an old girlfriend. Now let me start by saying she is not old. This lady was one of my first girlfriends. So yes, I am going back quite a few years. I know you are saying, “Why did she text me, and what did she say?”
Well we have been staying in touch on and off for years. Actually, more off than on. Ok back to the text. She lives a few hours away, and said she would be up in my area over the weekend, and that she wanted to meet for dinner. She has been separated from her husband for a while, so I decided to say yes.
Before I tell you how dinner went, I need to tell you a little about her. Like I said, we dated when we were teens, and early 20’s. One day at her parents’ house they took me aside, and talked to me privately. Her parents said to me, “We think you are very nice, but we want our daughter to marry a better provider.” I walked out of there puzzled for a number of reasons, especially since I was not even thinking of marriage. We stopped dating shortly after, and lost contact for many years. Then one day we made contact again, probably on Facebook, and eventually met a few times. One time she just looked at me, and said that she was in love with me, and always has been. I mean how many of you out there have actually had someone say that to you? I know a lot of us like to toot our own horns, but this is not one of those times. We want to think we are a great catch, but in reality, I think I might be a good catch. So when she said that to me, I am thinking what kind of magic spell did I put on her? I know I may be the Luv Doctor, but what did I do that was so special? Then it dawned on me. I did not do anything special, I was just being me, and she loved that.
I know you are all wondering, and to be sure this could be a great ending, but no, I am not in love with her. We ended up having a nice dinner, and a good night kiss. Then, we said our goodbyes.
