As the year comes to a close, we all reflect on the year past with thoughts of wonder, what ifs, what should have been or what will come. As we go into the month of December thinking of all the wonderful people that have crossed our paths and all of the joy our children and families have brought us or what we have brought to them. We all, yes even the grumpy; get a little smile that crosses our faces with love and joy that fills our hearts!
The holidays are special and different for all of us. For me, they are all about giving of the heart. For some it’s all about what Santa will bring and others, it‘s about the “bah humbug” of it all!
Gifts or thoughtfulness of the heart are the most special, I believe. Just to buy a gift with no thought or because it was on sale, is not the spirit of giving. It’s the giving of one’s self that truly brings out the holiday joy!
Maybe it’s a neighbor that needs a helping hand getting down off a curb, taking out the trash or watching their sick kids while you need to be somewhere. That is the thoughtful gift of giving. The presents or the treats are just an offering to make the season extra special.
This holiday season I ask you all to take a good look into your heart and ask yourself if you are giving a gift out of thoughtfulness or because it was on a list and you got a good deal! If it was on a list or a good deal, take a step back and ask, instead of personal indulgence, can I find a better way to express my love and the spirit of the holiday to my friends and family through the giving and thoughtfulness of my heart to others? It’s the gifts from the heart that always leave a lasting impression on one another.
