Many exhausting hours studying and practicing have proved worth it for one local high school senior. West Ranch High School athlete Brandon Oh received a national honor this month from Wendy’s. Oh was selected as the West Ranch High School Winner in the 2013 Wendy’s High School Heisman Competition.

Wendy’s High School Heisman honors athletes all over the country who have demonstrated not only strong athletic ability but also strong academic performance and positive community involvement. Oh went on to compete in the State Finals with all California School Winners. State finalists move on to the National Competition where the Wendy’s High School Heisman Winners are chosen and announced at the Heisman Memorial Trophy Presentation in New York City.
“We are proud to have Brandon represent the Santa Clarita Valley in the Wendy’s High School Heisman. We hope to see more Santa Clarita students apply for this award in future years,” said Rob Montgomery, owner of Wendy’s of Santa Clarita. “Our community produces many strong, well-rounded athletes who would be the perfect representation of what the Wendy’s High School Heisman is all about.”
Wendy’s began taking nominations early this fall and applications for the award were due in early October. Wendy’s High School Heisman National Finalists are invited to attend the Heisman Weekend in New York City in December where Wendy’s selects its National High School Heisman Winners during a broadcast on ESPN Networks.
Since 1994, Wendy’s High School Heisman program has honored more than 395,000 of the nation’s most esteemed high school seniors in partnership with the Heisman Memorial Trophy® Committee. The leadership-award nominees are well-rounded men and women who excel at learning, performing and leading in the classroom, on the field and in the community.
