The 2nd Annual SCV Charity Chili Cook-Off, on March 5, proved to be a success, raising approximately $20,000 for the following non-profit organizations: Circle of Hope, Inc., Santa Clarita Child & Family Center, Habitat for Humanity, Hardship2Hope.com and Help Philippine Kids..

Founded by Nicole Stinson, of Estate Realty Group, and Marcy James, of Crosscountry Mortgage just three years ago, Nicole and Marcy had an idea, took notes on a napkin and their idea became a reality last year with the 1st Annual Charity Chili Cook-off.  This year, they were able to raise four times more than their inaugural event.
Over 1,0000 guests had the opportunity to sample 42 different kinds of chili at the Hyatt Regency Valencia.  Three local restaurants participated in the competition, and there were many great raffle prizes, including a kids corner for the children to enjoy. This family event was a great time for all who attended.
Patrick Raach, of Realty One and Ray Tippetts, of Circle of Hope, Inc were crowned champs, taking home the title of first place.  Second place went to Steve Corn of Newhall Escrow, and the Augusta Financial team and Chef Roxie Ramey placed third.
The event was a huge success with the biggest winners being the charities, who will receive the funds raised for their organization.  “We are already working on next year’s event,” states Marcy and Nicole, “and are looking for a new location to host the growing crowd!”
