This month I am writing with a heavy heart. Some of you may not know, but I ran for SCV City Council, and lost. I put everything I had into the last four months, hoping to overcome incredible odds, to win one of the three seats that were open. Why you ask did I do this? Simple, I wanted us, the regular folks to have a voice on the Council.

There were so many issues I wanted to fix, including the problem singles have out here. I wanted to get us a nightclub, and/or some single activities. Let’s face it; I have seen it in so many emails to me. People out here want and need something for singles. So do the teenagers, and young adults. I wanted so much to help all of you, and I failed. I kept hearing, you can’t win, which made me want it even more. Will I run again? Let me get over the pain and disappointment, and we’ll see in two years. In the meantime I am still single, and dating again.
Every month I receive numerous emails, telling me how much they enjoy the article. Then I hear the same thing over and over. There is nothing out in Santa Clarita for singles to meet. Even the online dating, most people out here are not on those. So what’s the answer? How do we make Santa Clarita more single friendly? I have said this before, that there are tens of thousands of singles out here. Unfortunately, the ones in charge do not care. To them this will always be a bedroom community. I was hoping that my running for City Council might wake up the sleeping giant, “Singles.” Alas, it did not.  So what I can do then is try to plug some single events in my column. Just get me the details a month ahead of time.
I received two such items, and would like to give you all a head’s up, in case you would like to attend either. The first one is an SCV Singles Networking event, May 3, just email me for more information. The second is one I am very proud to be a part of again. The Soroptimist Club’s Gentlemen for a Cause event. This will be held May 17, and single or married, it’s a great evening.  So now I will lick my wounds, and have a great date for you all next month, Ciao.
