For 20 years, the Santa Clarita Ballet Academy has been offering comprehensive dance programs with an emphasis on classical ballet. The Academy’s ballet program is based on the syllabus provided by the Royal Academy of Dance in London. The RAD is an international teaching organization committed to establishing standards of excellence in ballet instruction. The Academy also provides classes in tap, jazz, and contemporary dance.
Academy staff includes nine distinguished instructors whose credentials are internationally recognized. They unitize a beautiful five-studio space with a professional atmosphere and positive learning environment in which students discover the beauty of ballet. The Academy enrolls students of all levels of ability and interest, from age three and up. Classes begin in fall and commence in June. New students are always welcome. Summer workshops are available to students enrolled in the Academy.
Students of the Academy are encouraged to perform in the Santa Clarita Ballet Company’s June performances and the Nutcracker in December. This is a unique opportunity for young dancers to participate in full-fledged productions alongside elite dancers. Many former Academy students have gone on to professional careers and have participated in some of the nation’s highest regarded ballet competitions, programs, schools, and companies including the American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Julliard, Miami City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, the Walt Disney Company, and Washington DC ballet, to name a few.
The Santa Clarita Ballet Academy is committed to meeting the needs of all students. Students who are seeking an outlet through dance to enhance grace, coordination, and posture, as well as those who are studying seriously for possible future dance careers, all receive equal attention and guidance. It is the philosophy of Executive Director, Corinne Glover, that all students should be encouraged to enjoy the spirit of dance, which should be freely felt through movement and self expression.
