Photographer Ed Freeman, widely recognized for his innovative use of Photoshop® in creating images, will speak at the August 18 meeting of the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association (SCAA). This event is free and open to the public. SCAA meets at 6:30 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 23630 Valencia Boulevard.
“My work is appreciated for their intrinsic esthetic value rather than for their accuracy in depicting an actual event or place in time,” said Freeman. “I’m struck by the beauty of desolate buildings I’ve passed along the way.” His fine art images are in many private collections and in the permanent collections of several prominent American museums.
After Oberlin College, Freeman worked as a performing musician, arranger and record producer, crafting dozens of pop and jazz records, including Carly Simon’s debut album and Don McLean’s American Pie. Twenty years ago, Freeman transitioned to his other great love, photography. He published two books and an iBook, and exhibited widely in galleries and museums in US and abroad. Featured in dozens of photography magazines, Freeman has scores of cover pictures to his credit. See www.EdFreeman.com.
