There was royalty in the park in July.  The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival honored two leaders for their support of the arts in valley and support for the growing LA SummerFest. 

Honored were Los Angeles County 5th District Supervisor Michael Antonovich for his support of the LA County Arts Commission, which intern has supported more than 15 organizations in the Santa Clarita Valley with free concerts, organizational support and funding interns for the organizations.  Also honored was the Honorable Mayor Laurene Weste for her support of the new Arts Commission, local funding for the arts, and for her part in saving Towsley Canyon from becoming a landfill.  Both honorees were for first to be Inducted into the Court of the Lord Chamberlain.  One hand for the ceremony were both honorees, Mayor ProTem Marsha Mclean, City Manager Ken Striplin, Assistant City Manager Frank Oviedo, local arts commissions John Dow, Michael Millar, Susan Shapiro, Gary Choppe, former Mayor Laurie Ender. And the Royal Court from the SCV Scholarship Pageant.  A town cried read aloud their many accomplishments and the honorees were awarded a KEY as the symbol of the Lord Chamberlain.  During Shakespeare’s time, the Lord Chamberlain was responsible for the court patronage of the arts and artists.
