Is summer really over?  Our children have returned to school, we have hope that the oppressive July and August heat and humidity is a thing in our past and we look forward to the sights and smells of Autumn. Yes, summer seems just a memory but here in Santa Clarita – fall has not yet arrived!

Just like January, September is a fresh start (at least in our minds) for many of us! We remember when we went shopping for our new school clothes, books, pencils etc.  For me, the clothes were not always store bought, but they were new to me and that was all that mattered.  My new pencils were yellow and smooth, with a perfect eraser and no teeth marks!  Yes, September can be a very special time of the year.
September is also a time when we need to “get back into a routine”!  Bedtimes are important and enforced, lunches are planned and made the night before, television and video game time is reduced, and our computers are once again used for homework.  Another routine we may want to get back to is coming to church on Sunday.  Many churches have “summer light” attendance, which is logical due to the vacations and activities that happen during those summer months.  But, if attending church is important to you, it is also important to make it a priority.  For some of us, church attendance is like dieting – it is easy to postpone, put off or skip altogether.  Don’t let that happen to you.  There are many wonderful churches in Santa Clarita – make a commitment to yourself and begin to visit a few.  Or, if you have a church and simply have not been there for a while – go ahead and come back!  I assure you that you have been missed!
You are welcome to join us at Newhall Church of the Nazarene.  Our website is www.newnaz.org.  Hope to see you soon!
