In May 2014, SCCS Alumni Ethan and Mary Frank graduated Summa Cum Laude from Biola University; Ethan with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and Mary with a Bachelor’s degree in Math.
Ethan and Mary met at SCCS in their junior year. After dating for over a year they got engaged and were married in December 2010, while attending Biola.
The Franks remember the impact SCCS had on preparing them for their rigorous college career at Biola.
“Mr. Brown’s AP Literature class was one of the hardest classes I’ve ever taken,” said Mary. “It definitely prepared me for the workload at Biola.”
Ethan also expressed how the AP Literature class prepared him for his time at Biola. “Mr. Brown did a great job of forcing us to evaluate our writing,” said Ethan. “I have continued this writing style throughout my college career.”
Ethan’s faith grew the most his senior year at SCCS. “In Bible we studied Romans with the MacArthur Commentary. It was a deeply challenging class,” said Ethan.
During their time at Biola, both Ethan and Mary received the highest academic scholarships available to them totaling $36,000 each.
Upon graduating from Biola, Ethan was inducted into Epsilon Kappa Epsilon; an honor for only five percent of Biola’s graduating class. Ethan has aspirations of becoming a medical doctor and has been accepted to Loma Linda University School of Medicine to begin in the fall 2014.
Needless to say, the Franks are excited about their life ahead and the journey God has them on.
Ethan and Mary are one of the many success stories of students who attend SCCS. With its rigorous academic program that requires students to either meet or exceed the UCA a-g requirements for graduation, students like Ethan and Mary, who graduate from SCCS are excelling.
Since 1982, SCCS has been our city’s largest and most dynamic private, Christian education program available for K-12 students. With an enrollment of over 500 students, SCCS partners with Christian parents of like faith – teaching minds and training hearts for God.
