The CTG Family Season is presenting Once Upon a Mattress, a hilariously nutty retelling of the beloved fairy tale The Princess and The Pea. The show itself is a musical comedy gem — a masterpiece of its kind.
If you thought you knew the original fairytale, you’ll be in for a walloping surprise when you discover that it wasn’t the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night! Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, all hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are, you’ll never look at fairy tales the same way ever again. The show runs from September 26 through October 25. Performances are Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturday matinees at 2 pm on October 4, 11 and 25. Saturday evening October 28 has an 8 p.m. performance as well. There is also a Sunday matinee on October 19 is at 2 p.m. The Canyon Theatre Guild is located at 24242 Main Street in beautiful Old Town Newhall.
