What is a clutter wizard anyway? The Clutter Wizard is Bob Farkas, Santa Clarita’s newest professional organizer. He helps you de-clutter your stuff and often your life. After many years serving clients in Los Angeles, Farkas is moving his business north to the Santa Clarita Valley.
“My job is to help you solve problems of disorganization. If your garage is out of control, if your files are in disarray, if your closets need revamping, I’m your guy.
“It could be that you’re having a tough time keeping your home office organized so you can be more productive. Or if you’re a working mom, maybe you just haven’t had the time or the energy to create systems to keep all the kids’ schoolwork, artwork, schedules and toys in any order.
“I’ve helped people create a set of photo albums from years of unsorted pictures. I’ve helped people who have lost a parent or partner sort through years of accumulated stuff. I’ve even helped a family reconfigure their bedrooms to make room for a new baby.
“This is great work. It makes such a difference in people’s everyday lives. I just love it. Need help moving into a new place? I’ll be more than happy to work with you to figure out where things should go to make the most of your living and storage spaces.
“What I do most is keep you focused on the task at hand, guide you through the process gently and help keep you motivated. I offer you systems and suggestions that work for your specific needs and I work with your strengths. It’s a very customized approach. There is no single way that works for everybody. I’m part therapist, part life coach, part hands-on-helper.
“Because people are so busy these days and because the work is often overwhelming I generally work in short two or three-hour sessions. Clients are making hundreds of decisions and it can be both emotionally and physically taxing. Limiting my work to shorter sessions has proven itself to be a successful stress-free strategy over and over again. Once a client understands that this is a process, they appreciate the stress-free approach even though it may take longer to achieve their final destination.
“As for my move north, I like the small town feel and the warmth of the people in Santa Clarita. Because you’re so intimately involved with people’s stuff, you often establish long-term personal relationships and clients often turn into friends. It’s definitely a challenge but it’s so rewarding. And you get to meet the nicest people.”
