Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley caused quite a buzz with its 14th annual “Bras for A Cause” event on Saturday October 5 at the scenic Bridgeport Clubhouse where guests were treated to a sit down lunch, cocktails and music.
Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley President Kelly Inga and event chairs Michele Andrews and Denise Placencio were thrilled that over 120 attendees were fiercely bidding on gorgeous hand designed bras, auction baskets and other goodies. “Bras was so exciting this year with live, gorgeous models, it really helped raise the roof on the bidding and on the fun” said Denise Placencio, whose custom Swarovski Crystal Dodger Bra went for $480. “We expect to far surpass our donations to Circle of Hope and Sheila Veloz over last year” said Placencio. The 16 custom luxe bras were all themed, ranging from the “Barbie bra” to the “Dodger bra” to the “Black Victorian”. Guests were mesmerized by speakers Kate Cowan and Grace Elliott, both cancer survivors. The event raised more than $18,000… a portion of which will be shared by Circle of Hope, Inc. and by Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center. Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley supports women and girls in the Santa Clarita Valley through scholarships, grants and an array of innovative programs.
