Now you might be thinking I am trying to talk you into using our divorce service instead of trying to do it on your own. I am and I’m not.
I want to tell you a story about my most recent do-it-yourself (myself) project.
My wife and I recently purchased a home in Valencia and for the first time, it was not new construction. So we have several cosmetic repairs and updates that we need to complete.
Among the list is putting down epoxy on our garage floors to make it look really good.
So we were faced with the decision to try to do it ourselves or hire professions to do it for us. So what is the real question? Do I think I can do this myself, what is the cost versus time investment and will it turn out okay?
So we decided to do it ourselves.
So we asked our friends on Facebook who had used epoxy floors. Everyone who responded said it was easy and that we could do it. So we purchased a kit from Home Depot and read the directions thoroughly and followed them to the letter.
We spent three full days cleaning, prepping and cleaning and prepping. This was followed by more cleaning and finally came time to lay down the epoxy. This was supposed to be the easy part.
We started painting on the epoxy and at first everything was going okay. Then we started to have problems. The epoxy was not sticking. It started to peel away as we were applying it and we had several other problems.
In the end we were left with a less than perfect epoxy garage floor. No one will probably notice other than my wife and I, but I was very disappointed in the results and really wished I had hired professionals. And did I mention we spent three full days doing this?
So back to making the decision on whether to do your own divorce or not. Like any do-it-yourself project, people who have done it will tell you that you can do it on your own. They will say it is easy. That you don’t need to spend the money.
I can tell you that I should have taken my own advice here. Had I used a professional company, I know I would have had a much more professional job done and one that would have been done right the first time and with so much less hassle and time.
In the end i just ended up with less than perfect garage floors and spent three days of my own sweat and time.
Divorce is not something you want to end up with these type of results.
