It’s May…which means spring is in full bloom and summer is just around the corner!  I hope you are enjoying all the wonderful events that have been going on in the Santa Clarita Valley over the last few months.  There’s much to do and much to see in this great town we call home.  Thank you to all the readers who have been emailing your celebrity encounters.  I look forward to them every month. Keep ‘em coming!
Just last month, I had the amazing opportunity to meet New York Giants running back and Super Bowl champion Shane Vereen at the SCV Chamber of Commerce’s Luncheon.

Shane talked about his career as an NFL running back, what it was like to play with quarterback Tom Brady, the transition from high school ball to college ball to eventually the pros and more. His mother and father, along with Chicago Bears safety and brother, Brock Vereen, were there to show their support along with hundreds of community members as Shane was being honored. Mayor Marsha McLean also presented him a key to the city.  Shane was nice enough to autograph a copy of elite Magazine where we featured him on the cover of the April/May issue as well as snap a photo with me.  He’s a great guy and I wish him the best as he starts his new season with the New York Giants.
In March, Santa Clarita resident Janine Jones had the honor of capturing a selfie with the amazing Dick Van Dyke at an L.A. Jazz Club at The Catalina Club. “The musical group Take 6 and the Manhattan Transfer were performing, but the real treat was to sit so close to a legend and personal idol of mine, Dike Van Dyke,” says Janine Jones.  “He was generous enough to engage in a conversation with me where we talked about dance and my mother’s history of being a Rockette in New York City. He truly is a delightful and humble gentleman.”
Dick Van Dyke is an actor, comedian, writer, singer.  He has starred in many films including Bye Bye Birdie, Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.  He also starred in the television series The Dick Van Dyke Show and Diagnosis: Murder.  He’s won numerous awards for his work in the entertainment industry and even has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The stars are here, Santa Clarita, and there are still so many more sightings to report.  Get your cameras ready and be on the lookout.  Do you have a celebrity sighting to tell and photo to share? If so, e-mail me at selgin@santaclaritamagazine.com.
Happy sightings! Mamarazzi.
