The Silver Spur Award for Community Service honors those who have support College of the Canyons and made contributions to Santa Clarita. Descendants of the founder of the city of Santa Clarita, Henry Mayo Newhall, received the Silver Spur Award for Community Service on April 11 at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles.
The Newhall family and their family foundation was honored for their donations to and support of various organizations in SCV, including COC, and most recently, the COC Institute for Culinary Education. The Silver Spur Award for Community Service honors individuals who have supported the college and made contributions to the SCV throughout the years.
