The Reward of Academic Rigor
Santa Clarita Christian School has proven itself to be grounded in Biblical truth, training up Christ-followers to live out and defend their faith through a curriculum that presents a distinctively Biblical worldview. What an awesome privilege and blessing for those who choose SCCS for their children!
SCCS also provides a rigorous academic experience for all students, one that supports each student’s strengths and areas of need. Each class within our specially designed academic program is created by our faculty to encourage students academically and to best prepare them for the expectations that will be placed on them in college.
The success of this preparation is best demonstrated in the college level coursework our high school students are able to complete even while in high school. Besides partnerships with colleges (traditional and online) that offer dual enrollment options for SCCS students, the most rigorous academic work our students have access to are the Advanced Placement (AP) courses we offer through the College Board.
Last year, nearly 80 high school students excelled in eight AP courses taught by our faculty. Many upperclassmen took more than one AP course in one year (sometimes up to four). Their work paid off. Nearly half the senior class passed at least one AP exam during by the time they graduated from SCCS. Two classes (AP Language and AP Environmental Science) had 100 percent pass rates—an achievement that is quite remarkable—while AP Bio was 85 percent and AP Lit was 71 percent.
Individually, our students also excelled. Last year’s graduating class had 15 AP Scholars—five AP Scholars, five AP Scholars with Honors, and five AP Scholars with Distinction. This success is substantiated with ACT test scores with 100 percent of the students meeting the college-readiness benchmark for success in English Composition and scoring high on both the math and science benchmarks.
These numbers only make concrete what everyone at SCCS already knows. We are an academically rigorous school where students succeed at all levels.
With a low student-to-teacher ratio, competitive sports for grades K-12, Advanced Placement classes and full and half day Kindergarten programs, SCCS partners with families to help produce students who are prepared to make a difference in the world for God. Every year, SCCS students continue to add to the list of acceptances into the nation’s top universities.
