What Does a Luxury Retirement Community Look Like? – Oakmont of Santa Clarita
For seniors who are seeking an independent living situation aligned with an active lifestyle, an ordinary retirement community simply won’t do. These vibrant seniors need a luxury retirement community they can live in happily for years to come. The community should include:
A built-in lifestyle. A luxury retirement community should offer a built-in lifestyle with an assortment of optional scheduled activities designed to cater to a variety of resident interests: games, crafts, reading or other hobbies. There should also be onsite amenities available to residents anytime they like: flower and vegetable gardens, a pet park or walking trails. To leave the campus, residents should have access to complimentary transportation that gives them access to local conveniences.
Fine dining. Inclusive gourmet dining is a natural extension of a built-in lifestyle, and it should be available to the residents of a luxury retirement community three meals per day. “Gourmet” means restaurant-quality meals prepared by an onsite chef from a credentialed culinary program and a dedicated kitchen support staff. Meals should be high nutrition, low fat and low sugar, without compromising on quality and flavor – and of course, there should be sugar free options for diabetic residents.
Assisted living services. Seniors of all stripes choose to live in retirement communities; while the majority of them may be very active, some require assisted living services to ensure they can maintain their independence. These services may include everything from access to a 24-hour nursing staff, to temporary meal delivery during times of illness or recovery, to a simple concierge service for daily medications. A luxury retirement community should also offer scheduled health checks, and it should allow approved outside providers to come to the community to provide services such as optometry, podiatry and chiropractic care.
What Sets Them Apart
These are the features that set a luxury retirement community apart from the rest. Of course, prospective residents and their families can request information on any additional amenities they are interested in, as there is always the possibility that those features may be available. Remember, a luxury retirement community should not be a “nursing home” – it should be a place that offers resort-quality living to seniors who want to live independently and vibrantly, surrounded by neighbors and friends they can make memories with for years to come.
