In 2007, Wells Fargo awarded $38,500 to non-profit organizations and schools in the Santa Clarita Valley, including those in the communities of Castaic, Newhall, Santa Clarita and Valencia.

Wells Fargo’s contributions last year benefited 19 local non-profit organizations.  Programs such as the Santa Clarita Symphony, Castaic Education Foundation, Castaic Middle School, Santa Clarita Scholarship Foundation, Wiley Canyon Elementary School, Old West Chapter — Order of DeMolay, Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project, Boys and Girls Clubs — Santa Clarita, College of the Canyons, Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry, Circle of Hope, Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley, Single Mothers Outreach, Santa Clarita Valley Resource Center, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation and the American Red Cross — Valencia were beneficiaries of Wells Fargo’s charitable giving.

Wells Fargo has 10 banking stores in the Santa Clarita Valley, with plans to open another location next month at 25662 The Old Road in Stevenson Ranch.  The company employs 200 team members in the region.

It was the sixth consecutive year Wells Fargo donated more than $10 million to Los Angeles-area nonprofits.  Last year, the Los Angeles Business Journal ranked Wells Fargo the top corporate donor to charitable organizations in Los Angeles County.  Nationally, the company contributed more than $91.8 million to more than 14,000 non-profit organizations and schools.

Wells Fargo’s team members locally also reported more than 20,200 volunteer hours serving non-profit organizations in their communities and raised more than $3.3 million of their own dollars for the company’s Community Support/United Way Campaign, which is an annual fundraiser encouraging employees to support any 501(c)(3) non-profit agency or school in their community, or any community across the country, including the United Way.

“I am proud to work for a company that cares so much about our local communities,” said Kevin Dunbar, vice president and district manager for the Santa Clarita Valley market in Wells Fargo’s San Fernando Valley Community Bank.  “Once a team member is hired at Wells Fargo, the first thing we tell them is that we will empower and support them if they want to be involved in the community.”
