Diet and exercise are not enough!  When we take a holistic approach to our lives, we look at all areas of our being.  Focusing on diet and exercise alone is like taking your car to the shop when it doesn’t work and telling the mechanic to only check the front end!

Mental, emotional and spiritual health and balance complete the picture of holistic health.  Having loving and supportive relationships based on respect (regardless of age) gives us joy, peace, and happiness in our daily lives.  Treating our children as well as those who are older with respect gives us a good feeling that is usually reciprocated in the way we are treated by others.

Having our brain retain and recall information and work as an intuitive “receiving station” allows us to feel connected, receptive, and responsible.  This works on the spiritual level as well, as it gives us the gift of being able to “tune in” to higher vibrations, especially at certain times of the day.

If we feel drained emotionally by certain people or situations we must learn how to rejuvenate ourselves.  Energy is limitless and understanding and training ourselves how to open up and receive this unlimited energy helps us renew ourselves.

Even exercise can add more stress to our lives instead of reducing stress.  The type of exercise we do is important.  Slow yoga and/or meditation is an autonomic nervous system parasympathetic-dominant exercise.  Running or jogging is an autonomic nervous system sympathetic-dominant exercise.  Most of us have sympathetic-dominant lives (I call this living “pedal to the metal”) so incorporating more parasympathetic-dominant activity is important to balance us out!
