The chances are that you or someone you know currently has or has had lower back pain.  This debilitating condition is not only common but can have long lasting effects on one’s health, as well as a drain on your finances.
If you have gone to your family or company medical doctor complaining of low back pain, your doctor may have told you, “You’re probably suffering from a sprain or strain, and some medication will take care of it.”  This is a sure sign that your medical doctor may not be the one to talk to if you really want to safely get out of pain and stay there.  Taking any pain medication, whether it’s over the counter or by prescription will never treat low back pain!  At best, these drugs will only offer four to six hours of relief by sabotaging your ability to feel pain from your lower back.  This puts you at risk in two ways: the pain in your body is a way of keeping you from injuring your back even more.  Taking a pill starts disabling your body’s first time of defense and taking drugs, even aspirin, can get you addicted as well as damage your kidneys and liver.

Lower back pain can be difficult to diagnose and treat by a medical doctor.  Chiropractors have had concentrated and specialized training in this particular area.  So before taking another medication to help you with the pain, ask yourself, is it worth the risk of getting increased pain and maybe worsens your condition?  Chiropractors want to see you before you develop symptoms of lower back pain.  Our goal is to get to the cause of the pain and to treat it without drugs and/or surgery.  Pain is the last thing to occur in the development of lower back pain, not the first, as many people believe.  Stiffness, a weak feeling or a spasm can be some of the first symptoms to develop.

Most common causes of lower back pain are Subluxation, disc problems, faset syndrome, arthritis and sacroiliac sprain/strain, sciatica pain.  Even if you have had back surgery, chiropractic can still help.  Most patients with failed back surgeries have peripheral, mechanical, structural lesions that are the source of the symptoms.  Therefore, these patients generally respond well to chiropractic care.
